Larry Hillis Falling
August 6, 1937 - July 2, 2026
Larry Hillis Falling was born on August 6, 1937, in Pryor, Oklahoma, to Oochahletah "Ochey" Falling and Lovie Melona (Casey) Falling. He departed this life on Thursday, July 2, 2026, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the age of 88 years, 10 months, and 16 days. Larry spent his childhood growing up in the Pryor area, where he made many lifelong memories. He graduated from Pryor High School with the Class of 1955 and later attended Bacone College in Muskogee.
The greatest blessing of Larry's life was the love he shared with Emma Jean Osage. Their story began when they met and fell in love, and after years together, they were united in marriage in March of 1967 in Cleveland, Ohio. Together they shared an extraordinary 61 years of love, friendship, and devotion. In 1967, they made their home in Tulsa, where they began building their life together, and they had lived in their current home since 1977. Larry spent many years working for Ridgeway's Reproduction, delivering blueprints throughout the state of Oklahoma. He took pride in his work and faithfully served until his retirement in August of 2010.
A man of faith, Larry attended the Church of Christ and the Church of God for many years and always enjoyed visiting Cornerstone Outreach in Locust Grove. His love for the Lord was evident in every aspect of his life. In fact, he believed so strongly that he wouldn't even eat anything with the word "devil" in its name, a simple but memorable reflection of his sincere convictions.
Music was one of Larry's greatest passions. A gifted guitarist and singer, he could effortlessly sing both tenor and baritone, bringing joy to those fortunate enough to hear him. As a young man, he loved spending time at the pool hall with his father and became such a skilled player that few could beat him. He was also an accomplished bowler, enjoyed traveling, especially snow skiing, and loved sharing adventures with his young sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, treating them as though they were his own. Larry delighted in making sure the children always had Christmas presents to open, creating many cherished memories. He also loved the taste of a cold Coke - his favorite drink.
Above all, Larry will be remembered for his kind heart. He never spoke poorly of anyone, choosing instead to offer kindness and understanding to everyone he met. His unmistakable laugh could brighten any room, and his gentle spirit left a lasting impression on countless lives. His legacy is one of love, generosity, faith, and quiet goodness.
Larry is lovingly survived by: His devoted wife: Emma Jean Falling of the home; 1 son: Daniel Falling, of the home; 2 sisters: Lovetta Phipps and husband Rex Edmoindson of Tahlequah, Oklahoma and Kathy Wittie of Chouteau, Oklahoma; 4 sisters-in-law: Marilyn Cooper, Edna Kiddy, June Butler; 2 brothers-in-law: Jack Merrill and Graham Osage; As well as numerous other relatives and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Oochahletah "Ochey" and Lovie Falling; his brother, Jerry Falling; his sister-in-law, Lucy Anderson; and his brothers-in-law, Wayne Wittie and John Merrill.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at McClain Cemetery, with Sister Edna Kiddy officiating. Services have been entrusted to Locust Grove Funeral Home. Memories, condolences, and tributes may be shared at www.locustgrovefuneralhome.com.
