Jerry Harold Hunter was born in DeQueen, Arkansas on December 16, 1945 to Kelsey and Stella (George) Hunter.

Jerry joined the United States Navy in August 1963 at the young age of 17. Jerry married the love of his life, Barbara Ann Wall on May 2, 1970. They were married for 46 years. He worked for the postal service for many years until his retirement in 2005. He was named Postmaster of the year in 1989. He served on many School Boards throughout the years.

Jerry never met a stranger and made friends wherever he went. His personality and sense of humor made everyone happy. He was an avid book reader, he frequented the library 2 times per week and checked out 3-4 books at a time.

He is survived by wife Barbara of the home, sons; Rodney Hunter and Michael Owens of Whitesboro, daughter; Tracey and husband Darrel Brien of Smithville, sister; Joyce Tipton of Cove, Arkansas, brother; Jimmy and wife Shelly of Wickes, Arkansas. Nine grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren. Mother in law; Dee Tidwell, brother in law; Gene Wall, both of Honobia, Oklahoma, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Jerry was preceded in death by his grandmother Daisy George, parents Kelsey and Stella (George) Hunter, his sisters Jean Winfield and Mary Tipton, and beloved brother in law Bob Tipton. 2 grandchildren; Brent Shane Hunter and Michael Cody Owens, and 1 great grandchild; Malachi Ludlow Martin.

Services will be held Friday, February 3, 2017, 2:00 PM, at Whitesboro School Auditorium in Whitesboro, Oklahoma. Reverend Darrel Brien and Reverend Kenneth Bryant will be officiating the service, with Larry Mings speaking. Interment will follow at the Hunter Family Cemetery.

Pallbearers; Harland Ludlow, Theodore Ludlow, Scott Tidwell, Chance Hunter, Carson Hunter and Donnie Sisk. Honorary Pallbearers; Scotty Russell, Ellis Green, Johnny Goode, T.C. Werst, Kenny Werst, Don Hoyle, Dell Franks, Randy Leathers, Roy Sisk, Kevin Wall, Keith Wall, David Urbankle, and W.L. Murphy.
