Wes was born on March 26, 1938, in Pryor, Oklahoma, to Hobart Clinton Smith and Edythe Belle "Dickie" (Littlefield) Smith. He was 88 years, 6 months, and 8 days of age. Growing up, Wes attended several schools across the country including Montana, Wyoming, and Oregon. He graduated from Pryor High School with the Class of 1956.
Wes proudly served his country in the United States Army. During his military service, he was stationed in Libya, North Africa. While serving in the Army, Wes and Linda Lee Lewis began writing letters to one another. Their mothers were friends and had encouraged the two to do so. After Wes was honorably discharged from the Army, he and Linda began dating. On January 16, 1970, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Wes married the love of his life, Linda. Their marriage was blessed with two daughters, Elesha and Lauren. The couple shared more than 56 wonderful years together.
Wes and Linda made Locust Grove their home for more than 50 years, where they raised their family and built a lifetime of memories. In 2024, they moved to Edmond to be closer to family. Throughout his working years, Wes worked as a geophysical surveyor, later working for HEM Saw in Pryor as an inspector before retiring.
Wes was a longtime and faithful member of the Locust Grove Free Will Baptist Church. His faith in God was an important part of his life. He loved being involved in church activities and charitable projects. He was a devoted husband and father who loved his family with all of his heart.
Wes enjoyed hunting and had a special interest in genealogy. He loved researching his family history and discovering the stories and people who came before him. Above all else, Wes cherished his wife and daughters and the time they shared together. He will be remembered for his strong faith, devotion to his family, love of history, and the many lives he touched throughout his lifetime.
Wes is survived by: his loving wife, Linda, of the home; 2 daughters: Elesha Smith and husband John Stephenson of Watertown, Massachusetts and Lauren Moore and husband Andy of Edmond, Oklahoma; other relatives, his church family, and a host of friends who will miss him dearly.
Wes was preceded in death by his parents, Hobart Clinton Smith and Edythe Belle "Dickie" Littlefield Smith; and one brother, Ron Smith.
