UJ Sitsler
August 29, 1929 - November 26, 2025

UJ Sitsler, lifelong resident of Locust Grove, Oklahoma, passed away on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the age of 96 years. He was born on August 29, 1929, in Rose, Oklahoma, to Daniel and Bertha Marie (Dollarhide) Sitsler.

UJ grew up in the Locust Grove area and remained a devoted member of the community throughout his life. A hard worker from an early age, he began working at just 12 years old and continued until the age of 80. He spent many years with Sitsler Construction as a supervisor, where he especially enjoyed keeping his boys lined out on their jobs. He also drove a cement truck in Coffeyville, Oklahoma, and worked as both a mechanic and in various construction roles. No matter the job, UJ approached his work with dedication, skill, and the strong work ethic that defined his life.

A Christian by faith, UJ found joy in the simple things. He loved fishing, gardening, working on small engines, and tinkering in his shop. His faith and deep love for his family guided him daily. Known for his big, happy smile, he leaves behind a legacy of kindness, strength, and unwavering devotion.

UJ was married twice in his lifetime. His first wife, Ruth Sitsler, passed away on October 5, 1988. He later married Lena Sitsler on November 14, 1986; she preceded him in death on August 9, 2024.

UJ is survived by: 3 sons: James Sitsler and wife Joyce of Locust Grove, Oklahoma, Jack Sitsler and wife Mary of Salina, and Jeffrey Sitsler of Locust Grove, Oklahoma; 20 plus grandkids, numerous greats and great great grandchildren; Numerous other relatives and a host of friends.

UJ was proceeded in death by: both of his wives: Ruth and Lena; children: Juanita Taylor, Michael Sitsler, Gregg Sitsler, Terry Nollan and Janette Stipes; Siblings: Virgil Sitsler, Fred Sitsler, David Sitsler, Harvey Sitsler, Larry Sitsler, Jerry Sitsler, Juanita Sitsler, Ruby Squirell, Wilma Sitsler, and Wanda Montgomery.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Monday, December 1, 2025, at Hogan Cemetery in Locust Grove, Oklahoma. Jack Sitsler will officiate. Services have been entrusted to Locust Grove Funeral Home.
