Malvene List
February 25, 1935 - September 16, 2026
Dovie Malvene List was born on February 25, 1935, in Locust Grove, Oklahoma, to Owen Bascum Condit and Ruby Evelyn (McFarland) Condit. A lifelong resident of the Locust Grove community, Malvene passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, in Muskogee, Oklahoma, at the age of 91 years, 6 months, and 22 days.
Malvene, a lifelong resident of Locust Grove, attended Little Rock and Locust Grove Public Schools. When she was younger, she worked at Gateway Luggage before spending most of her working years operating a dairy farm. She was a hardworking woman who took great pride in caring for her family and tending to the responsibilities of farm life.
On April 18, 1977, Malvene and Omer Kay List were married in Joplin, Missouri. They shared many years together before his passing on April 10, 2009. She was a longtime and faithful member of the Little Rock Free Will Baptist Church near Locust Grove. Her faith was an important part of her life. She treasured the fellowship and love of her church family.
In her spare time, Malvene enjoyed many things that brought her happiness. She was a member of the African Violet Club. She found pleasure in bowling and gardening. She especially enjoyed putting up her Christmas decorations, creating a warm and festive atmosphere for her family to enjoy. Those who knew Malvene will remember her for the love she shared with her family, her hardworking nature, and the many simple joys she found throughout her life.
Those left to cherish Malvene's memory include: 5 daughters: Carol Hanna and husband Johnny of Rose, Oklahoma, Janet Benge and husband Gary of Salina, Oklahoma, Donna Fox of Chouteau, Oklahoma, Sandra Simpson and husband Billy of Tahlequah, Oklahoma, and Regina Pearson and husband John of Post Falls, Idaho; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; 1 sister: Joy Gregory and husband Tom Locust Grove, Oklahoma; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
Malvene was preceded in death by her parents, Owen and Ruby Condit; her husband, Omer Kay List; one daughter, Patricia Neal; an infant sister; and one son-in-law, Ron Fox.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Monday, September 21, 2026, at Little Rock Free Will Baptist Church near Locust Grove, Oklahoma, with Pastor Rick Condit officiating. Interment will follow at Hogan Cemetery near Locust Grove, Oklahoma. Services have been entrusted to Locust Grove Funeral Home.
