Harold Gene Hurley
Jan 6, 1940 - Sep 27, 2026
Locust Grove, Oklahoma
Harold Gene Hurley, 86, of Locust Grove, Oklahoma, passed away on Sunday, September 27, 2026, at his home. He was born on January 6, 1940, in Salina, Oklahoma, to Warren and Rosa (Liggins) Hurley.
On May 26, 1958, Harold married Bertha Jones in Salina, Oklahoma. Together, they shared more than 68 years of marriage, building a life centered around faith, family, and service to others. Harold made Locust Grove his home for 61 years and became a familiar and cherished part of the community.
Harold had a strong faith and a heart for ministry. For 17 years, he faithfully served as pastor of Markham Ferry Apostolic Church in Locust Grove. His years in ministry were an important part of his life, and he devoted himself to serving the church and the people around him.
A hardworking man throughout his life, Harold spent many years working as a steel worker. When he wasn't working or serving his church, he enjoyed gardening and traveling. He found great satisfaction in tending to his garden and enjoyed the opportunity to visit new places and make memories along the way. In his later years, he enjoyed making steel crafts.
Above all, Harold treasured his family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, and the many years and memories he shared with those he loved will remain a lasting part of his legacy.
Harold is survived by his wife, Bertha Hurley of the home; sons, Harold Hurley Jr. and wife Cori of Bonney Lake, Washington, and Darryl Hurley and wife Tammy of Sapulpa, Oklahoma; daughter, Tina Blevins and husband Randy of Locust Grove, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Benjamin, Juston, Ransom, Keith, Sarah, Stefan, and Alia; 22 great-grandchildren; along with many other relatives, church family, and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Warren and Rosa Hurley; siblings, Buster Hurley, Bob Hurley, Floyd Hurley, W.R. Hurley, Margaret Goins, Modena McLendon, and Maxine Shelton; and grandson, Brannon Hurley.
Harold will be remembered for his devotion to his faith, his many years of service to others, his strong work ethic, and, most of all, the love he had for his family. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
