Helen Louise (Neel) Joice
March 21, 1931 - March 20, 2026
Helen Louise (Neel) Joice, a longtime resident of the Yonkers community near Locust Grove, Oklahoma, passed away on Friday, March 20, 2026, in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, just one day shy of her 95th birthday. She was 94 years, 11 months, and 27 days old. Helen was born on March 21, 1931, in Wagoner, Oklahoma, to William Elbert Neel and Blanche Ola (Givens) Neel. She was raised in Wagoner and attended Sand Town School west of town.
On October 18, 1947, Helen was united in marriage to Charles Willard “Will” Joice in Wagoner, Oklahoma. To this union, three children were born: Jim, Sandra, and David. The couple shared over 69 years of marriage before Will preceded her in death on March 26, 2017. In 1952, Helen and Will made their home in the Yonkers community near Locust Grove, where they built a life centered around faith, family, and service to others.
Helen spent much of her life caring for others, working in in-home care and also serving on the election board for a number of years. She was a faithful and longtime member of the Chouteau Hills Church of Christ in Chouteau, Oklahoma.
Helen was a talented and creative woman who enjoyed pottery, crafting, sewing, quilting, singing, and playing the guitar. She had a giving heart and was always willing to help others - whether it was offering a ride to a neighbor or making sure a warm meal was ready on time. Above all, she loved her family deeply and treasured the time she spent with her children, grandchildren, and extended family.
Helen is survived by: 3 children: Jim Joice and wife Charlotte of Locust Grove, Oklahoma, Sandra Anderson and husband Ron of Locust Grove, Oklahoma, and David Joice and wife Vicki of Locust Grove, Oklahoma; 4 grandchildren: Jimmie Joice and wife Tammy, Jason Joice and wife Carlie, Crystal Dunn and husband Jimmie, and April Stout and husband Justin; 9 great grandchildren: Hannah Ballew, Carson Joice, Norah Joice, Haylee Strain, Caidyn Britt, Jalynn Dunn, Jacetyn Dunn, Kodi Stout, and Ava Stout; 5 great-great grandchildren: Kylie, Kaityn, Rilen, Derrick, and Wrenly; Numerous other relatives and a host of friends.
Helen was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband; 4 brothers; and 4 sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Friday, March 27, 2026, at the Chouteau Hills Church of Christ in Chouteau, Oklahoma, with Evangelist Steve Lay officiating. Interment will follow at Haner-Adair Cemetery near Locust Grove, Oklahoma. Services have been entrusted to Locust Grove Funeral Home.
