John Stephen Williamson, 84, of Pryor, passed away on Saturday, September 5, 2026, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was born on November 9, 1941, in Hollywood, California, the son of Ralph Williamson and Lelea (Davis) Williamson.
John began working in the aerospace industry in the 1960s and later returned to the field in 1978, remaining there until his retirement in 2003. During his career, he worked as a metallographer, testing and examining metals used in some of the nation's most significant aerospace programs. His work included testing metals for Apollo 11 and Apollo 13, as well as contributing to work involving the Space Shuttle and the B-1 and B-2 bombers. He took great pride in the work he performed and the role he was able to play during an important era in American aerospace history.
On February 9, 1962, John married Varita Williamson at Christ Community Church in California. Together, John and Varita shared many years of marriage and built a life centered around faith, family, and cherished memories. John had made the Pryor area his home for the past 17 years after moving from California.
A devoted Christian, John had a deep love for studying the Bible and enjoyed sharing his faith by leading Bible studies. He also treasured the time he spent in ministry and was especially proud of his involvement with Green Oak Ranch in California, where he had the opportunity to serve underprivileged children. His ministry also included time spent at a church camp near Great Sacandaga Lake in New York and Mount Elden Church Camp in Arizona. These experiences were meaningful to John and reflected his desire to serve others and share his faith throughout his life.
John especially treasured spending time with Varita, and the two enjoyed camping and the many memories they made together through the years. Above all, John valued his family, his faith, and the time he shared with those he loved.
John is survived by his sons, David Williamson and wife Jennifer of Oregon, Greg Williamson and wife Sharron of Utah, and Mark Williamson and wife Melissa of California; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Varita Williamson, and his sister, Janice Caforio.
