WELSEY VIRDEN
September 26, 1927 - January 30, 2013

Wesley was born September 26, 1927 in Quinton, Oklahoma to James Jefferson and Louisa Lavina (Risenhoover) Virden. He departed this life on January 30, 2013 in Claremore at the age of 85 years and 4 months and 4 days.

Wesley graduated from Stigler High School with the class of 1945. While in high school Wesley was an All-State football player and he earned a football scholarship to the University of Tulsa. He attended TU for one year and then enlisted in the United States Navy. He was married to Betty Lee Lupton on November 10, 1951 in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Wesley worked as a Bulk Loader at the Lonestar Cement Plant; he retired at the age of 65. He was a member of the First Free Will Baptist Church. He liked to garden and also enjoyed traveling. After retirement Wesley stayed busy doing "handy man" projects, such as remodeling. He always was willing to help anyone with their own projects. Wesley showed his love to his family through helping them with some of their projects.

Wesley is survived by wife Betty of the home, three children, son Wesley Virden and wife Norma, daughter Debbie Briggs and husband Les, daughter Cindy Rouleau and husband Cyril all of Claremore, three grandsons Blake Virden of Claremore, Tyler Virden of Tulsa, Josh Collins of Owasso, three granddaughters Lesley Briggs Dearmen of Claremore, Carmen Briggs Mefford of Kiefer and Whitney Collins Coleman of Owasso, three great grandsons Cailean Coleman of Owasso, Tristan Coleman of Owasso and Noah Dearmen of Claremore, brothers Louis Virden and wife Coweta of Bossier City, Louisiana, Roger Virden and wife Joan of Bartlesville, Dennis Virden of Overland Park, Kansas. He was preceded in death by his parent's brother James Newton Virden, sister-in-law Jean Virden and two nephews Lance Virden and Nathan Virden.
