Betty Lee Virden
August 29, 1935 - June 17, 2025

Betty Lee Virden was born on August 29, 1935, in Deer Creek, Oklahoma, to Jess and MaryBelle (Beard) Lupton. In her younger years, Betty lived in Coffeyville, Kansas, and Blackwell, Oklahoma. She married Everett Virden on November 10, 1951, in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.

Betty was employed as an inhalation therapist and also as an EKG technician at Pryor's Grand Valley Hospital. Away from work, Betty was active in local churches. She was a past member of Pryor's First Baptist Church, and also Freewill Baptist Church in Pryor. She also enjoyed many hobbies. Doing yard work (especially raking leaves) was probably her favorite. While her lawn was always well maintained; the inside of her home was immaculate. Betty loved to decorate (especially for the holidays). And would do so not only for herself, but others as well.

Betty was good at everything. "Everything" from lovingly bossing her family around, to sewing and crafting. She was very talented and creative. While she loved to watch television, she was also an avid reader and loved to order magazine subscriptions. Betty collected items of various interest over the years. All of which were neatly and proudly displayed in her home at all times. Above all, Betty loved her family and the time she got to spend with them. She always enjoyed having her great-grandchildren over to visit.

Betty departed this life on June 17, 2025, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the age of 89.

She is survived by her son, Wesley Virden (daughter-in-law, Norma); daughters: Debra Briggs (son-in-law, Les) and Cindy Rouleau (son-in-law, Cyril); grandchildren: Wesley Blake Virden, Leslie Silks, Whitney Blaue, Joshua Collins, Carmen Mefford and Tyler Virden; several great-grandchildren; sisters: Clara Alridge and Neva Aldridge (brother-in-law, Blain); as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Jess and MaryBelle Lupton; her husband, E. Wesley Virden; sisters: Ruth, Carolyn, and Nancy Hobbs; as well as a brother, Buddy.

Online condolences may be made at www.stephens-key.com or on the funeral home Facebook page. Arrangements are in care of Stephens-Key Funeral and Cremation Care of Pryor.
