Rose (Keener) Stamper
March 2, 1936 - May 13, 2025
Rose Marie Stamper, a lifelong resident of Locust Grove, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, in Salina, Oklahoma, at the age of 89.
Born on March 2, 1936, in Locust Grove to William Rass and Margaret (McClain) Keener, Rose attended Locust Grove Schools and remained deeply rooted in her hometown throughout her life. On February 27, 1954, she married the love of her life, Billy Eugene Stamper, in Muskogee, Oklahoma. Together, they shared more than 66 devoted years of marriage before Billy's passing in September 2020.
In her earlier years, Rose worked for about five years at the Fabricut Factory Outlet in Pryor. A gifted seamstress, she lovingly sewed clothes for her daughters, as well as curtains, pillows, and countless other handmade projects. Above all, Rose dedicated her life to caring for her home and family as a homemaker.
A woman of strong faith, Rose was at one time a member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church in Locust Grove. She was known for her deep devotion to prayer and for finding joy in reading both her Bible and other books. Rose's cooking was legendary - she was known by all as "The Best" cook. Her meals, especially her pies, were cherished by family and friends alike. She loved hosting family dinners and was happiest when surrounded by her loved ones.
Rose will be remembered as a caring individual with unwavering love for her family. She leaves behind a legacy of faith, service, and devotion that will be treasured by all who knew her.
Rose is survived by her 3 daughters: Karen Davis and husband Wes of Locust Grove, OK, Kathy Sumner and husband Herman of Salina, OK, and Karma Phillips and husband Loyd Dale of Verdigris, OK; 6 grandchildren: Brad Davis, Brent Davis and wife Heather, Nathan Sumner and fiance Shelly, Nacole Rogers and Jacob King, Loyd Dale Phillips, Jr. and wife Jennalee, and Scott Phillips and wife Randon. 14 great grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren. 1 brother: Junior Keener and wife Debra of Inola, Oklahoma; 1 sister: Gladys Stokes and husband Art of West Siloam Springs, Oklahoma.
Rose was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband: Billy Eugene Stamper; and her 4 siblings: Johnny Keener, Ina Mae Cooper, Carol Blackwell, and Gary Keener.
Graveside services will be held 10:00 A.M., Friday, May 16, 2025, at the Fairview Cemetery in Pryor, Oklahoma. Brother Shawn Bates will officiate. Services have been entrusted to Locust Grove Funeral Home. Memories, condolences, and tributes may be shared at www.locustgrovefuneralhome.com.
