Helen L. Swearengin
December 1, 1945 - April 20, 2026

Helen L. Swearengin, 80-year-old rural Vinita resident, passed away early Monday, April 20, 2026, at her home. She was born on December 1, 1945, in Claremore. Helen graduated from Salina High School in 1964. She married James Alex Swearengin in 1964, he preceded her in death on September 5, 2021. Helen was a member of the Cedar Point Church in Claremore and the Cherokee Nation. She loved sewing, crocheting, playing games on her phone, coloring, raising plants and roses, most of all she loved her family, especially her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James Boyd Scott, and Thelma Louise Scott; brother, Charles William "Butch" Scott, sisters, Linda White, and Anita Scott.

The family includes her children, Shari Swearengin of Vinita and Tammy Sinnott of Powder Springs, Georgia; son in laws, Jim Pilant and Mark Miller; sister, Yvonne Scott of Vinita, brother, James Scott of Alabama; grandchildren, Ashley Guess, James Swearengin, Brandi Brown, Stephanie Pilant, Gentry Pilant, Kelsi Hogan; great-grandchildren, Daike, Jazmyn, Landon, Andromeda, Kyndric, Kepler, Swayze; great grandchildren, Rennley and Goldie; and five grandsons in law and one granddaughter in law.

The graveside service will be held on Friday, April 24, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at the Bryan Chapel Cemetery in Boatman, Pastor Mark McClurg will officiate. Online condolences may be made at www.highsmithfh.com or on the funeral home Facebook page. Arrangements are in the care of the Burckhalter-Highsmith Funeral and Cremation Services of Vinita.
