Carl Johnson

Carl Johnson, 89, of Salina for many years, living in Owasso near family, passed away on Saturday, May 5, 2018 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was born on July 3, 1928 in Colgate, Oklahoma, the son of Henry Lee Johnson and Lizzie (Groscloth) Johnson. Carl married Bonnie Jean Griffin on July 4,1948 in Las Vegas, Nevada and would have celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary in July of this year. They made their life in Tulsa, Oklahoma for many years raising their three sons, before retiring to Salina. Carl was a mechanic and owned and operated, J. & K. Auto Repair for many years. Carl was scout master for the boy scouts while his sons were young. He loved being outdoors, especially when he could fish. He and Bonnie enjoyed traveling any time they had a chance. Carl enjoyed westerns, whether watching on tv or reading his favorite author, Louie L'Amour. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather who will be remembered by all the wonderful memories he left to each one.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, May 9, 2018 at 2 p.m. in the Shipman's Funeral Chapel with Rev. Jerold Pilant officiating. Interment will be in the Bryan Chapel Cemetery with Tommie Johnson, Roy Johnson, Myke Johnson, Jeremy Johnson, Terry Dick and Tunney Livengood serving as casket bearers. Honorary casket bearers are Gene Livengood, Sean Livengood, John Zuniga and Mark Zuniga. Friends may stop by the funeral home to sign Carl's book is not able to attend the service, no formal visitation is planned. Carl is survived by his wife, Bonnie of the home; his sons, Tommie Johnson and wife, Marjorie of Tulsa, OK, Roy Johnson and his wife, Pamela of Owasso, OK and Myke Johnson of Tulsa, OK; his sisters, Marie Chapman of Chickasha, OK and Carolyn Fitzpatrick of Ninnekanh, OK; four grandchildren, Tonya, Carly, Holly and Jeremy; 5 great grandchildren; many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Lizzie Johnson; two brothers, Jack and Ray Johnson; two sisters, Stella Revel and Minnie Carter.
