Robert William Erdwin
March 7, 1920 - October 20, 2019
Robert William Erdwin was born on March 7, 1920 to Andrew and Emma Erdwin. He spent most of his childhood on his beloved farm and graduated from the 8th grade at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
Robert was 4th generation military and a World War II Veteran He enlisted on Valentine's Day when he was 18 years old. During his army career Robert spent 3-1/2 years in a prison camp. He earned numerous medals, including the Bronze Star and the Oklahoma Medal of Valor. He returned home in 1945 and continued to work with his dad on the farm.
In the summer of 1958 he met the love of his life, Roberta June Allen. They were married in August of 1960 and Robert, Roberta, David and Connie became a family. They remained on the family farm for many years until retiring to Pryor, Oklahoma. Robert served 53 years on the Mayes County Farm Bureau Board.
Robert is preceded in death by his parents Andrew and Emma Erdwin, brothers Ray Erdwin and wife Esther and Kenneth Erdwin and wife Deloris, and grandson David Adair.
Robert is survived by his wife Roberta of the home, two children: David Erdwin and wife Peggy of Kansas City and Connie Cordray and husband Roger of Claremore, grandchildren: Sean Erdwin, Donna Eagen and husband Steven, Robert Boykin and also Mike Cordray and wife Kim, Matt Cordray and Chris Cordray, and seven great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, 5 nieces and nephews and numerous great nieces and nephews and cousins.
Robert spent many years as a successful farmer, father and devoted Christian man. He will be greatly missed.
The celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, October 23, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, with Dwight Moeller officiating. Interment will follow at Bethlehem Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, October 22, 2019 at 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Stephens-Key Chapel.
