Patsy Ann Eby
December 4, 1942 - July 21, 2026
Patsy Ann Eby, cherished by many, peacefully departed this world on July 21, 2026, at her home in Adair, Oklahoma, surrounded by the love of her family. She was 84 years old.
Patsy was born on December 4, 1942, in Pryor, Oklahoma, to Sherman Sumner and Emogene Garrison Calvert. She spent several of her early years in Independence, Kansas, with her father before returning to Adair, where she graduated from Adair High School in 1960. It was there she met the love of her life, Larry Allen Eby. The two were married on June 11, 1960, in Miami, Oklahoma, and shared 59 wonderful years together, building a life rooted in love, faith, family, and community.
Patsy began her career at Dr. G. E. Moots Hospital in Pryor in 1957 as a candy striper. Through determination and an incredible work ethic, she earned her nursing degree from St. John's Hospital School of Nursing in 1973, becoming a registered nurse before ultimately serving as Administrator of Nursing. At a time when many women of her generation stayed home to raise their families, Patsy worked full-time, completed nursing school, and devoted herself wholeheartedly to raising her children - a testament to her strength, resilience, and unwavering commitment to those she loved.
Following her retirement from Moots Hospital, Patsy continued her nursing career at Grand Valley Hospital in Pryor until 1984. In 1980, she and Larry fulfilled another dream by opening The Main Store in Adair, a beloved local business that served the community for nearly three decades before closing in 2008.
Her passion for antiquing, estate sales, and discovering hidden treasures inspired another chapter of her life. Together, she and Larry opened Memories Antique Store, where Patsy delighted in sharing her unique finds with others. After 15 successful years, the business evolved into The Corner Store, which continues to serve the community today.
More than any career or business venture, Patsy's greatest joy was her family. She spent countless hours chasing grandchildren from one ballgame, school program, and special event to the next, never missing an opportunity to cheer them on. Her presence in the stands and audience was a constant reminder of her unconditional love and unwavering support.
Patsy was a lifelong member of Adair Methodist Church, faithfully serving her congregation throughout the years. She also found joy in painting alongside Bob Ross, hunting for antiques, and taking the occasional lucky outing with loved ones that always seemed to include a little excitement and plenty of laughter.
She is survived by her sons, Jeff Eby and wife Rhonda of Adair, and Kenny Eby of Adair; her grandchildren, Jerod Eby and wife Kelsey of Owasso, Megan Poe and husband Chris of Colorado Springs, Kristin Eby of Colorado Springs, Lynse Eby of Adair, and Sheena Tanksley of Adair; and her treasured great-grandchildren, Isabella, Jaeden, Natalie, Charlotte, William, Lauryn, Sofie, Sadie, Gaije, Zyla, and Zoe.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Larry Eby; her mother, Emogene Calvert; her father, Sherman Sumner; and her dear sister, Norma Jean Mitchell.
Patsy will be remembered for her quiet strength, tireless work ethic, generous heart, steadfast faith, and unconditional love for her family. Her legacy lives on in the lives she cared for as a nurse, the businesses she helped build, and the generations of family who were blessed to know and love her.
