Freemon Troyer
June 22, 1936 - December 12, 2015
Freemon was born on June 22, 1936 in Chouteau to Neal M. and Ida (Detweiler) Troyer. He passed away on Saturday, December 12, 2015 in Tulsa at the age of 79 years, 5 months and 20 days with his family singing at his bedside.
Freemon was a lifetime resident of the Mayes County area. He served in the Voluntary Services in lieu of the military. He and Katie Mae Miller were married on May 17, 1956 in Chouteau and from their union came seven children. He was a hard worker and excellent provider for his family. He worked as a farmer, dairyman and owned a mobile feed grinding service for farmers. He worked for John Deere in Tulsa and Pryor and owned his own custom hay baling business. He also owned a repair shop where he was known as an expert in repairing John Deere square and round balers.
Freemon was a wonderful Christian example to his family; he did mission work for several years and was an active and dedicated member of Zion Mennonite Church for many years. He helped build the church and also helped with different remodels over the years.
He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with his kids and grandkids; he enjoyed family gatherings and he also loved fishing, watching sports and was a very competitive rook player. He will be missed by all who shared in his life.
He is survived by his wife, Katie Mae, of the home; 6 children, Glenn Troyer and wife Sharon of Pryor, Dale Wayne Troyer of Pryor, Dennis Troyer and wife Sharon of Adair, Jerry Troyer and wife Sherrie of Inola, Harry Troyer and wife Melinda of Claremore and Caroline Douse and husband Dan of Pryor; 16 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren with 2 more on the way; 6 sisters, Edna Yoder and husband Alva of Mississippi, Alma Eichelberger and husband Don of Pryor, Lydia Lawrence and husband Verland of Pryor, Sue Arnold of Pryor, Ida Shetler and husband Dale of Pryor and Wilma Garrett and husband Richard of Texas; 6 brothers, Rudy Troyer and wife Sara of Florida, Mose Troyer and wife Marge of Indiana, Neal Troyer and wife Karen of Grove, Andy Troyer and wife Dawn of Florida, Larry Troyer and wife Sandy of Shawnee and William Troyer and wife Lisa of Texas. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Lavern Troyer.
