Jason Thomas Henry
August 3, 1974 - October 11, 2025
Jason Thomas "Ja" Henry was born on August 3, 1974, in Claremore, Oklahoma, to Jesse "Boots" Henry, Sr. and Mary Jane (Squirrel) Henry. He departed this life on Saturday, October 11, 2025, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the age of 51 years, 2 months, and 8 days.
Jason was raised in Locust Grove, where he graduated from Locust Grove High School with the Class of 1992. He was a proud member of the LG Pirates football team that made it to the state semi-finals that same year. A lifelong resident of the Locust Grove and Pryor areas, Jason built his life close to family, friends, and the community he loved.
On April 18, 2003, Jason was united in marriage to Melanie Elaine Wilson in Miami, Oklahoma. Together they were blessed with three children: Taylor, Tori, and Kai, who were the center of his world. Over the years, Jason worked hard to provide for his family. He drove for Sygma Trucking in Pryor, often taking overnight hauls, and later worked for Pryor Chemical (LSB Labs) as a chemical loader until his health required him to take medical retirement in 2020.
Jason and his family were members of Country Baptist Church in Rose, Oklahoma. His faith, easygoing nature, and sense of humor made him someone people loved to be around. He never took sides, loved to laugh, and could always be counted on for a good story - whether about WWE wrestling, ghost tales, or the latest Marvel movie.
In his spare time, Jason enjoyed playing golf, softball, and cornhole, and he especially loved watching his kids and grandkids play sports. He was an avid OU Sooners and Dallas Cowboys fan and enjoyed family get-togethers, time at the creek, and hunting for crawdads. His presence brought joy, laughter, and warmth to everyone who knew him.
Jason is survived by: his wife of over 22 years: Melanie Henry of the home; 3 children: Taylor Henry of Tahlequah, Oklahoma, Tori Henry of Tahlequah, Oklahoma, and Kai Parker of Locust Grove, Oklahoma; 2 grandchildren: Addie Christie and Bolton Bluebird of Tahlequah, Oklahoma; 6 adopted grandchildren: Kanaan Lease, Kimber Lease, Reyden Kingfisher, Chipper Fraley, Rayne Ruiz, and Landry Daughtery; 2 brothers: Jesse B. Henry Jr. and Leandra of Locust Grove, Oklahoma and Josiah Matthew Henry of Locust Grove, Oklahoma; 1 sister: Tina Yazzie and husband Regan of Locust Grove, Oklahoma; 1 uncle: Jim Squirrel of Oaks, Oklahoma; his mother and father-in-law: Mary and Clifford Wolfe of Pryor, Oklahoma; nephews: Chris, Michael and Katriel Yazzie, all of Locust Grove, Oklahoma; nieces: Jana Taylor of Muskogee, Oklahoma and Jessica Henry of Tulsa, Oklahoma; 2 great nieces; 2 great nephews; 1 special cousin: Carrie "Ernzy" Leach along with numerous other relatives and a host of friends.
