Erl Bakke
August 17, 1957 - January 18, 2025
Erling "Erl" Nathanael Bakke, 67, of Chouteau, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, January 18, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born on August 17, 1957, in Marshalltown, Iowa, to Charlene Mildred (Fadness) and Richard Waldemar Bakke, Erl lived a life devoted to family, faith, and service.
Erl grew up in Marshalltown, graduating from Marshalltown High School in 1975. He pursued his passion for electronics technology at the Missouri Institute of Technology in Kansas City, Missouri, earning an associate degree in computer technology. It was there that he met the love of his life, Pamela Delores Grass. The two were married on May 8, 1981, in Chouteau, Oklahoma, and together they built a beautiful life, raising three children: Jeremy, Jurene, and Ralph, during 43 cherished years of marriage.
Professionally, Erl dedicated himself to his work as an electronics technician, spending over 26 years at Lowrance Electronics and more than 13 years with Enovation Controls. His skill and dedication were hallmarks of his career. Erl was a devoted member of Crossroads Assembly of God in Chouteau, where he served faithfully as a deacon and helped with the Royal Ranger Commander group. His love for his church and its community was evident in everything he did.
A lifelong baseball fan, Erl often cheered for the Kansas City Royals and St. Louis Cardinals, though his favorite games were those played by his children. He also loved fishing, catching countless spoonbill over the years, and took pride in gardening, always striving to grow the hottest peppers. Erl had a talent for playing the violin and spent many joyful hours in jam sessions with friends in Vinita, Oklahoma.
Above all, Erl treasured his family. He delighted in spoiling his grandchildren and was renowned for his signature "Dad Jokes." He was a kind, generous man who exemplified what it meant to be a devoted husband, father, and Duda. His warm spirit, quick wit, and unwavering love will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Erl is survived by: His wife, Pam, of the home; 3 children: Jeremy Bakke, Sr. and wife Lavonna of Chouteau, Oklahoma, Jurene Shannon and husband Jordan of Chouteau, Oklahoma, and Ralph Bakke and Beth of Chouteau, Oklahoma; 11 grandchildren: Jeremy Bakke, Jr., Nathanael Bakke, Alexander Bakke, Penelope Shannon, Arora Bakke, Olympia Shannon, Luca Bakke, Charles Shannon, Paige Turner, Korben Budder, and Atleigh King; 1 great grandson: Hudson Turner; 1 brother: David Bakke and wife Amy of Rockford, Illinois; 2 sisters: Mary Nurre and husband Steve of Manchester, Iowa, and Martha Eggers of Marshalltown, Iowa; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and a host of friends and church family.
