Faye Jean (Grass) Arneecher
May 4, 1946 - April 2, 2025
Faye Jean (Grass) Arneecher, 78, of Locust Grove, Oklahoma, passed away on April 2, 2025, in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. She was born on May 4, 1946, in Rose, Oklahoma, to Elmer Raymond Thomas and Ella (Standingwater) Grass Surritte.
Faye grew up in the Locust Grove area and graduated with the Class of 1964 from Oaks Mission High School in Oaks, Oklahoma. She later received computer training while living in California. Throughout her life, she lived in various places, including Jackson, Mississippi, where she worked for Xerox, and Chicago, where she was employed by Vogue Coach. Upon returning to Locust Grove, she worked at Orchid Paper Mill in Pryor until her retirement in 2011.
A talented and creative woman, Faye enjoyed crafting and sewing projects. She also loved playing Bingo and taking casino trips, happily spending hours at the penny slots. More than anything, she cherished time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Known for her storytelling, Faye left a lasting and loving impression on everyone she met. She was a strong-willed person, with some in her family calling her hard headed.
Faye had a giving heart and a home that was always open to those in need, whether family, friends, or strangers. She was a hardworking and selfless provider, always putting others before herself - even at the expense of her own well-being. And if she ever playfully knocked you on the head, it was done with love (just ask Bobby Jack). Her love for her family and friends was immeasurable, and she will be deeply missed.
Faye is survived by: 5 children: Paula Potts and Charles Ash of Mustang, Oklahoma, Raymond Chandler and wife Heather of Grove, Oklahoma, Jerry Jones and wife Dori of Terre Haute, Indiana, Bobby Arneecher of Peggs, Oklahoma, and Daniel Arneecher of Locust Grove, Oklahoma; too many to count, she loved each of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is also survived by: 1 brother: Ray D. Grass of Locust Grove, Oklahoma; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; 1 son: Mitchell Steiner; 1 daughter: Michelle Chandler; 3 brothers: Ralph Grass, John Grass, and Rusty Grass; 3 sisters: Luellen Osborn, Caroline Nall, and Maxine Stanley; 1 great grandson: Trazie Arneecher.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at Cornerstone Outreach in Locust Grove, Oklahoma, with Reverend Buddy Ross officiating. She will be laid to rest at Little Rock Indian Cemetery. Services are entrusted to Locust Grove Funeral Home.
