July 21, 1957 - December 10, 2024
Thurman Buckskin, born July 21, 1957, in Claremore, Oklahoma, to Ella Mae Buckskin, departed this life on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at his home in Locust Grove, surrounded by his loving family.
Thurman attended school at Locust Grove and remained a lifelong resident of the community. A dedicated and hard-working man, he built a career in construction, specializing in framing, and was predominantly self-employed. He also attended the New Life Christian Center in Locust Grove during different periods of his life.
Thurman was passionate about fishing, a hobby he cherished, often heading out on his nephew Jeremy's boat. Over the years, he amassed an impressive collection of fishing rods and equipment. He also enjoyed hunting, spending time outdoors, and gathering wild onions. A skilled craftsman, Thurman had a talent for woodworking and created numerous items, including tables, chairs, a bed for one of his grandchildren, and toy boxes. He was a dedicated supporter of his children and family, attending football and soccer games as they grew up. Known for his spirited personality and dramatic flair, Thurman was a caring individual who loved spending his time with his grandchildren. He will be missed by those that knew and loved him.
Thurman is survived by his: 5 children: JoElla Garrison and husband Luke of Rose, Oklahoma, Haley Bell and husband Colton of Inola, Oklahoma, Kylee Blakely and Payton Standingwater of Locust Grove, Oklahoma, Leeanna Sloan of Tahlequah, Oklahoma, and Daniel Buckskin of Tahlequah, Oklahoma; 5 grandchildren: Gracie Mae Garrison, Alaia "Sissy" Marie Bell, Caden Alton Garrison, Railyn Ann Bell and Dylan Buckskin; a very special nephew: Jeremy Baker of Locust Grove, Oklahoma. Many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother: Ella Mae Buckskin; two brothers: Jimmy "Bozo" Buckskin and Millard Buckskin; three sisters: Tammy Wagnon, Nancy Baker, and Millie Littledave; and his cousin: Kirby Sullateskee.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 A.M., Monday, December 16, 2024, at the Full Gospel Church - New Life Christian Church in Locust Grove, Oklahoma. Pastor Shaun Cook and Pastor Mark Coday will officiate. Interment will follow at Ballou Cemetery near Locust Grove, Oklahoma. Services have been entrusted to Locust Grove Funeral Home in Locust Grove, Oklahoma.
