Services for Jonas J. Unruh, 86, will be 2 PM Friday at the Henninger – Allen Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. A. L. Palmer officiating.

Burial will be at the West New Hopedale Cemetery. Unruh died Tuesday evening.

He was born in McPherson County, Kansas, and moved with his parents to a farm north of Ringwood when he was an infant. He married the former Mildred Janzen on September 24, 1922, then farmed several years in the Ringwood area before he moved to Texas.

Unruh returned to Enid in 1933 where he worked for the Champlin Refining Company for 13 years and the Fuller Brush Company for 20 years before retiring. After retirement he worked in the Broadway Tower parking lot and the Enid Christian Book Store.

Unruh was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Enid. He is survived by his widow, Mildred, who resides at a nursing home; two daughters, Mrs. A. L. (Dorothy) Palmer, Opelousas, Louisiana, and Mrs. Walter "Wilma Jane" Sissom, Norman; a son, Jerroll Jay Unruh, Norman; three sisters, Mrs. Marie Kliewer, Fairview, Mrs. Elizabeth Thiessen, Bakersfield, California, and Mrs. Ruth Herrgesell, Bakersfield, California; a brother, Arthur Unruh, Ringwood; four grandchildren and eight great – grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a sister and two brothers.

Services for Mildred Unruh, 83, who died Saturday at Four Seasons Nursing Home in Norman after a lengthy illness, will be at 2 PM Tuesday in the Chapel at Henninger – Allen Funeral Home. Dr. A. L. Palmer and Dr. Clark Palmer will officiate. Burial will follow at West New Hopedale Cemetery.

She was born June 11, 1904, in Coy to Mr. and Mrs. Louie Jantzen. One of 16 children, she lived with her parents who moved numerous times in Oklahoma and Kansas before moving to a small farm north of Ringwood. She then went back to Halstead, Kansas, where she worked in a hospital until her marriage to Jonas Unruh September 11, 1922.

The couple settled on a farm in the Ringwood area for several years before moving to West Texas. In 1953, they returned to Enid where they lived until his death in April 1986. The past year, she lived at the nursing home in Norman.

Mrs. Unruh was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church where she taught a Sunday School class and served in various capacities in the Primary Department. She also was a member of Phebean Sunday School Class.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. A. L. "Dorothy" Palmer, Opelousas, Louisiana, and Mrs. Walter "Wilma Jean" Sisson, Norman; a son, Jerroll J Unruh, Norman; four grandchildren; eight great – grandchildren; and a brother, Daniel Jantzen, Newton, Kansas.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by seven sisters and seven brothers.
