Lucy Ulrich, 69, died March 2, 2017, in Springfield, Mo. Funeral services is 10 a.m., Wednesday, March 8, 2017, at Fairview Mennonite Brethren Church with Pastor Marlin Hiett officiating. Interment follows in the South Mennonite Brethren Cemetery. A viewing at Pierce Funeral Home is 6:30-8 p.m. Tuesday, March 7, 2017.

Lucy was born Sept. 15, 1947, in Enid, to John and Helen Karber. She attended Progressive School in Fairview until 8th grade, and Fairview High School for 1 year before going to Oklahoma Bible Academy for 3 years and graduating in 1965. She went on to attend Tabor College and earn a bachelor's degree in elementary education. She taught school in Omaha, Neb. for several years and met her husband Reuben Ulrich there. They were married July, 3 1971, and enjoyed 45 years together. To this marriage were added four children. Reuben and Lucy moved to Oklahoma in 1976 where they farmed with John Karber until his death, and then continued to live, working on the farm.

Lucy accepted Christ as her savior at an early age, and was baptized into the Fairview Mennonite Church. Lucy used her life to honor and glorify the Lord. She spent countless hours serving at church, as a deacon couple, teaching Awana, and Sunday school. She enjoyed cooking and baking and used her gift of hospitality to host many people in her home. She was especially known for her sweet rolls, cinnamon rolls, and pies, which she gave away generously. Her spiritual gift of encouragement was exemplified through the countless cards and notes she sent to family, friends and acquaintances. Lucy enjoyed playing basketball in her youth and loved to watch the sport in person and later, when unable to attend, she would listen to Fairview and Oklahoma State games on the radio. She was actively involved in Women's Farm Bureau and many Bible studies over the years.

She is survived by her husband, Reuben Ulrich: children, Michelle Kopper and husband, Nathan of Wentzville, Mo.; Delton Ulrich and wife April of Elk City; and Luann Weller and husband Kevin of New Bloomfield, Penn.; four grandchildren: Bracken, Garrett, Paige, and Kazlyn; and sister, Elsie Bartel and husband Jonathan of Corn; as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by daughter, Faith Ann; her parents, John and Helen Karber; a sister Edna Ruth; and a brother Allen Ray.

Memorial contributions can be made to Oklahoma Bible Academy with the funeral home acting as custodian of funds at P.O Box 15, Fairview, OK 73737. Condolences may be made online at www.piercefuneralhomes.com.
