March 28, 1933 - May 10, 2021

Marvin Dewayne Martens was born to Albert and Minnie Martens March 28, 1933 on the farm and departed his earthly home Monday, May 10, 2021 in the Fairview Hospital, Fairview, OK. Within a few years came a ready-made fun team, he and his brothers explored nearly every inch of ground in western Major county hunting pelts, fishing and generally building their adventurous spirits. Having wonderful teachers for parents, He developed his sense of family, hard work and learned early on the need to be committed to The Lord in everything he did. He accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior early in his childhood and was baptized into the Mennonite Brethren Church. He had a lifelong commitment to the Mennonite Brethren Conference. With an incredible baritone voice, he crisscrossed the nation singing in groups and solo most of his life. From early years with his mom and brothers at the piano, they sang together at home and at church, a critical piece of his upbringing.

Many assignments and voluntary positions of service followed throughout his lifetime, Major County Historical Society, Choir director, Deacon at the MB Church, with providing manpower and funding for many projects. He was chairman of the building committee for this church. Examples of his contributions in the community are the press box at the high school football field, the welcome signs at the four highways entering Fairview, several structures at the historical society, organizing the moving of the railroad engine from the park to its present location, and many others.

He was the CEO of fun in the Martens family. He had fun at most everything in life, and all of us were the benefactors.

His foundation was his faith, his joy was his family and love of country resonated throughout his life. Never a day passed without a moment of devotion and prayer in the morning at the breakfast table in prayer for his family and friends. Always thoughtful of others, he seemingly never met a stranger and had a genuine interest in all people he touched. Even through his declining health he kept his faith in God and sense of humor.

Marvin leaves to carry on his legacy through wife Jeanette, daughter Marva and son in law Danny Morris, son Brad and daughter in law Pam Martens, 4 grandchildren Lori and John Henry, John and Emily Wohlgemuth, Sarah and Brent Willard and Staci and Paul Lancaster, and 10 great-grandchildren Laney, Noah, Braden, Haley, Lawson, Tanner, Luke, Cooper, Levi, and Tatum and his bonus grandchildren, Ben and McKenzie Neveras with their children Jaden and Naia as well as Zach and Kendall Cowden with their son, Murray.

The family will be present for the visitation at Pierce Funeral Home from 4:00-7:00 p.m., Friday. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, May 15, 2021 at the Fairview M.B. Church with Pastor Travis Schmidt officiating. Interment will follow at the North M.B. Cemetery under the direction of Pierce Funeral Home, Fairview. The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Fairview Regional Hospital, Fairview Oklahoma and the organization of TLC, that focuses on rehabilitation through hard work and service to the community, with the funeral home serving as custodian at P.O. Box 15, Fairview, OK, 73737. The service will be live-streamed at Facebook.com/MBChurchFairview for those unable to attend. Bramco has had many work in their factory and have been very proud of this relationship.
