The funeral for LeRoy Hearty Johnson, age 95, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 27, 2020, at New Hopedale Mennonite Church in Meno, OK, with Pastor James K. Suderman officiating. Burial will follow in New Hopedale Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home.

LeRoy was born to Jacob B. and Anna (Koehn) Johnson on Sept. 25, 1924, just north of Meno, OK, the youngest of five children. He went to be with the Lord on Aug. 22, 2020, at the age of 95.

He was a lifelong member of New Hopedale Mennonite Church in Meno, OK, and was baptized May 28, 1939.

A skillful carpenter, LeRoy was self-employed doing remodeling and odd jobs over the years for numerous clients in the Enid area with his high school friend, Melvin Shultz. His work is prominent at New Hopedale in the kitchen, pastor's office and even the sanctuary stage. LeRoy was active in the church as a long-time Sunday School teacher and as leader of the Christmas Eve program for many years. LeRoy was gifted in prayer.

LeRoy is preceded in death by his parents, Jacob B. and Anna; older siblings, Magdolena, Alfred, Josie and Violet. LeRoy is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Memorials may be given through the funeral home to the New Hopedale Mennonite Church Deacon Fund.
