New Hopedale Cemetery



December 18, 1947 - July 1, 2006

The funeral for Reith Avery Claflin, 58, Meno, will be 10 AM Tuesday at New Hopedale Mennonite Church, Meno. James Suderman will officiate. Burial will follow in New Hopedale Mennonite Cemetery. Arrangements are by Lanman Funeral Home Inc. of Helena. Visitation will be 6:59 PM today at the funeral home. The casket will be open for viewing 9:51 AM Tuesday at the church.

He was born December 18, 1947, in Anthony, Kansas, to Avery Eugene and Bernice Lucille Mitchell Claflin and died July 1, 2006.

He attended schools in Gore and Wakita. He graduated from Northwestern Oklahoma State University with a bachelor's degree in natural science education. He acquired a Masters degree from Phillips University. He was a teacher and a coach. He served at North Enid public schools, Helena School for Boys, Helena – Goltry public schools, Taloga public schools, Watonga public schools, Lomega public schools and Hennessey public schools, retiring in 2004. He was a mechanic and a farmer.

He married Rhonda Lyn on September 7, 1979. They had 27 happy years together.

Surviving are his children Reith Avery Jr. of Caloosaa, Dr. Chanda Ann Kennemer of Dallas, McKinsie Caye Janzen of Enid and Reith Malaehi Claflin of Meno; and three grandchildren.
