September 26, 1938 - July 10, 2021

Funeral Services for Don E Ross, 82, of Fairview will be at 2 pm, Wednesday, July 14, 2021 at the Fairview Central Christian Church with Reverend Ronnie Hopkins officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery.

Don was born September 26, 1938 in Fairview, Oklahoma to Ernest Eugene and Minnie Grace (Fuller) Ross and died July 10, 2021 at his home in Fairview. Don attended Ringwood Public Schools through Sophomore year when the family moved to Meeker, Oklahoma.

Don married Barbara Mary May on Feb. 7, 1960 in Fairview. August 2, 1960 they were blessed with their first daughter, Dawn Robin and on August 11, 1961, they were blessed with their second daughter, Kimberly Kay. In September of 1963, they moved to Wakita, Oklahoma where they lived 14 years. Here Don worked for a gas station.

In 1969 Don started working for Cities Service Gas Company. In May 1978 the family moved to Guymon as Don became a corrosion tech with Williams Natural Gas. Even though the company changed its name to Williams Natural Gas, Don remained with the company.

In 1984 they moved to Lawrence, Kansas where they remain for 17 years, retiring in 1999, and returning to Fairview.

After retiring Don still tried to stay busy and taught Stain Glass classes at the local Vo-tech for 10 years. Don loved golf and spent most of his free time at the golf course.

Don is survived by two daughters, Robin Ross and Kimberly Wertzberger; three granddaughters, Kayla and Hector Diaz and Kathryn and Cody Hobbs and Laura Ross Thederahn; five great grandchildren, Sophia Diaz, Alexander Diaz, Eloise Hobbs, David Thederahn, and Persephone Thederahn; brother Kenton and Eula Ross, Brother-in laws, Ken Jr and Brenda May and Alan May; sister-in-law Pat and Tom Casteel, as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife Barbara.

December 15, 1942 - October 19, 2010

Funeral services for Barbara Mary Ross, 67, of Fairview, will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, October 22, 2010, at the Central Christian Church with Reverend Ronnie Hopkins officiating. Burial will follow at the Fairview Cemetery. Arrangements are by Fairview Funeral Home Inc.

Barbara was born December 15, 1942 in Fairview to Kenneth Rankin and Laura Belle (Sears) May and died October 19, 2010 at the Fairview Regional Hospital after a 3 year battle with cancer.

Barbara was raised and educated in Fairview. She married Don E Ross on Feb. 7, 1960 in Fairview. They later moved to Wakita, OK where they lived 14 years before moving to Straight, OK for 6 years and Lawrence, KS for 17 years. Following Don’s retirement in 1999, they returned to Fairview.

Through the years, Barbara was a bookkeeper and homemaker. She served as treasurer for Major County Senior Citizens Center until 3 weeks prior to her death. She was appointed to the Fairview Cemetery Board, a position she held for the past 6 years. She was passionate about these organizations and truly enjoyed her volunteer activities.

Barbara loved to read and to spend time with her family who will deeply miss her love, guidance, and wit.

She is survived by her husband Don of the home; two daughters, Robin Ross and Kimberly Wertzberger; three granddaughters, Kayla and Kathryn Wertzberger and Laura Ross; and brothers, Ken May Jr. and Alan May and sister, Patricia Casteel.

She is preceded in death by her parents and grandparents.

Memorial contributions may be made through Fairview Funeral Home, Inc. to the Major County Senior Citizens Center and/or the Central Christian Church.
