Fairview Cemetery


Myers M. Babe Parks, 95, son of Usley (Hardy) and William H. Parks, was born on Jan. 30, 1906, at Fort Scott, Kan. He passed away at the Brandon Woods Nursing Home in Lawrence, Kan., on April 6, 2001.

Mr. Parks was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, Izetta Collison, Thelma Hutchinson and Maxine Lockhart Coursey.

Babe is survived by his two daughters and their husbands, Colette and Duane Stoddard of Amarillo, Texas, and Cheryl and Benny Smith of Lawrence, Kan.; five grandchildren and their spouses, Stefanie and Charles Elsea, Jennifer and Dennis Huddleston, Jeff and Kursten Smith, Jill and Julie Smith; eight great-grandchildren, Brian Scott, Christopher and David Andrew, Jared, Kortney Gail, Kyle Ben, Kailyn Faye and Kyna Ann; a sister, Mildred Patterson of Weatherford; a brother, Nelson of Waynoka; three sisters-in-law, Margaret Cofer, Faye Eleanor and her husband Marion Jensen, and Ila Halstead, all of Fairview; a brother-in-law and his wife, Elmer George and Mary Halstead of Beggs; a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. April 9 at the Fairview Cemetery. Tom Schwartz, pastor of the Central Christian Church in Fairview, will officiate. Wharton Funeral Chapel of Alva is in charge of arrangements.

Contributions may be made in his memory to the Waynoka EMTs, Make-a-Wish, Ronald McDonald House or the charity of the donor's choice.
