ENID, Okla. — Memorial service for Phyllis E. Jordan, of Fairview, will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012, at Fairview First United Methodist Church, with Rev. Rich Redinger and Jerry Fast officiating. Private Burial will be earlier that morning. Arrangements are by Fairview Funeral Home Inc.

Phyllis was born May 21, 1936, in Tahlequah, Okla., to Jeff and Grace Andrews Austin and passed away Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2012, in Fairview, Okla., after a long battle with breast cancer.

Phyllis lived in South-eastern Oklahoma, graduating from Springer High School in 1954.

She attended elementary school at Shady Point until third grade, when her family moved to Bokoshe, Okla. Her senior year she moved to Springer, Okla., where she was valedictorian of her class.

She attended 1 1/2 years of college at Southeastern Oklahoma State University before she transferred to Oklahoma State, where she graduated with a BS in home economics.

Phyllis met Max Jordan while at OSU. They married Oct. 11, 1958. While Max finished college, Phyllis taught home economics at Cushing, Okla.

After his graduation, they moved to Phillipsburg, Kan.,, where they lived for four years and Phyllis again taught home economics.

In 1963, after her father-in-law's unexpected death, Phyllis and Max moved to Fairview, Okla. In 1964, Phyllis became a stay-at-home mom.

She later kept records for the Coast to Coast store they purchased and taught music at Progressive School for seven years.

Phyllis was an extraordinary seamstress, wonderful Sunday school teacher and an avid supporter of both Fairview and OSU. She loved to play bridge, sing in the choir and watch her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Max; son, Kerry Jordan and wife Alison and their three children, Claire, Julia and Clark of Gilbert, Ariz.; daughter, Katresa Riffel and husband Craig and their two children, Colburn and Kamber of Enid, Okla.; brother, Dale and wife Ann of the Baltimore, Md., area and his children, David and Grant Austin.

Memorial contributions may be made to Fairview First United Methodist Church Building Fund or the charity of your choice, with Fairview Funeral Home Inc. acting as custodian.
