March 23, 1932 - November 12, 2018

Glen Eugene Hipsher was born on March 23, 1932 in Cleo Springs, Oklahoma to Herman E. and Mary O. Nash Hipsher, the youngest of six children. He graduated from Cleo Springs High School in 1950 and Oklahoma A&M in 1956. Uncle Sam interrupted his education and he was stationed in Germany in the United States Army from 1953 to 1955. After serving his country, geographical convenience led him to Stillwater instead of Norman, home of his beloved Sooners, where he earned a master’s degree in Education from Oklahoma State University in 1959. Although a lifelong Sooner fan, Glen remained loyal to his alma mater and supported them financially.

Glen was married to Marilyn Kay Boehs of Fairview. They had two children, and Marilyn passed away in 1964.

Glen worked in education for many years as a teacher, coach and administrator in Colorado, Kansas and Oklahoma. His co-workers always spoke highly of him and appreciated his leadership and dry sense of humor. He retired in 1990 from Putnam City Schools in Oklahoma City.

In 1972, Glen married Sherry Kay Miller. They lived in Bethany for 33 years before moving to Jenks in 2009. They had one daughter.

Glen may be best remembered for his love of baseball. He grew up playing at home with his brothers, as well as in high school and Northwestern State University in Alva. He pitched a no-hitter as a sophomore at Cleo Springs High. He was a life-long fan of the New York Yankees and was fortunate enough to see them play at the old Yankee Stadium several times.

Glen is survived by his wife of 45 years, Sherry, of Jenks, Oklahoma; a son, Kevin and wife Pam of Fairview, Oklahoma; two daughters: Jackie Anderson and husband Mark of Oklahoma City and Stacey Thomas and husband Decherd of Jenks; and two grandsons: Brian Hipsher of Stillwater and Miller Thomas of Jenks. Glen was a member of Boston Avenue United Methodist Church in Tulsa.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife; three brothers: Cecil, Wayne, and Marvin; and two sisters: Helen Glover and Maxine Van Arsdale.

The family would like to express their sincere thanks to St. Francis Hospice in Tulsa for their great care and support through this difficult time. Viewing will be Thursday, 10am-9pm at Mercer-Adams, Bethany. Funeral service will be held Friday, November 16, 10:00am at Mercer-Adams Chapel. Glen will be laid to rest at the Fairview Cemetery in Fairview, Oklahoma.
