Fairview Cemetery


ENID — Funeral service for Charles Hassler, 75, of Enid, will be 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 15, 2013, at Evangel Assembly of God Church, with Pastor Lester Lowry and Pastor Rodney Wardwell officiating. Private burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery under the kind guidance of Stittsworth Funeral Service. Military rites will be coordinated by the United States Army.

Charles was born Jan. 31, 1938, in Marionville, Mo., the son of Algie and Alma Kroll Hassler and passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2013, in Enid.

He married Eva Harsh in Iuka, Kan. Aug. 12, 1967.

He worked as a farmer and in the oil field. Charles retired from Sherwood Construction in 2004, and moved to Pond Creek.

When health became an issue, he moved to Texas, where he resided until December 2011, when they returned to Enid.

Survivors include his wife, Eva of the residence; daughters, Marla Mock of Guymon, Okla., Nora Dennington of Marlo, Okla., Karen Hochhalter of Enid, Jenise Best of Benbrook, Texas, and Kim Strain of Waukomis; sons, Jimmie Crane of Douglass, Kan., and John Hassler of Wichita, Kan.; 22 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary Culp and Effie Vader, both of Wichita; brothers, John of Kandell, Kan., Huston of Garden City, Kan., and Algie Jr. of Sante, Calif.

Charles was preceded in passing by his parents; infant brother, Benjamin; grandson, Jimmie Crane Jr.; and sister, Clara.

Charles was a very kind-hearted person, always doing something for others.
