Funeral services for Nella "Nell" Jean Wheeler Davis, 90, of Fairview will be at 1:30 PM, Friday, April 18, 2025, in the First Methodist Church in Fairview, OK, with burial following in the Fairview Cemetery. Arrangements made by Fairview Funeral Home, Inc.

Nella Jean Davis, 90, of Fairview, OK, went to be with the Lord on April 13, 2025, at the Fairview Fellowship Home. Nell was born on July 7, 1934, in Seiling, OK, to Glenn St. Clair Wheeler and Hettie Agnes Ritter Wheeler. Nell had a sister, Mary Helen Lehenbauer, and a brother, Glenn Leroy Wheeler.

Nell graduated from Ames High School as valedictorian in 1952. She played basketball and was on the state champion softball team.

After graduating from high school, she moved to Enid and worked at Southwestern Bell Telephone as a long-distance operator. She then married Cal a few days after he returned from Korea on November 7, 1954, and then moved to York, NE. After a time, they moved to Tulsa where she worked for Blue Cross and Blue Shield until Cal was called back to active duty and moved to Alexandria, LA. By this time, Debbie was born in 1955 and Bob in 1960. After Cal's discharge, they moved to Ames for a year and then to Fairview, and Sally was born in 1964. Nell retired from the Major County Court Clerk's office after 20 years as deputy court clerk.

Nell was active in United Methodist Women, Fairview Mothers' Club, and her children's and grandchildren's activities.

She loved to travel with her friends, whom we affectionately called the Senior Nerd Herd: Edwina, Kay, and Betty!

She is survived by her daughter, Debbie Davis Barby of Cheney, KS; son, John Robert "Bob" Davis and wife, Holly of Fairview, OK; and daughter, Sally Davis Jantz and husband, Terry of Lindsay, OK. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter, along with sister-in-law Hazel Wheeler and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Calvin "Cal" Davis; her parents, Glenn and Hettie Wheeler; her sister, Mary Helen Lehenbauer; her brother, Leroy Wheeler; brothers-in-law, Merl Lehenbauer and Robert "Bob" Davis; and sisters-in-law, Velma Davis and Kay Davis.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Methodist Church, with the Fairview Funeral Home, Inc., acting as custodian.
