Funeral for Georgia May "Jo" Failes will be 2 p.m. Monday, October 1, 2012, at First Christian Church with Rev. Roy Wahlgren officiating. Burial will be at Cleo Springs Cemetery, with arrangements by Lanman Funeral Home Inc., Helena. Viewing will be 2-6 p.m. Sunday, with family present from 2-4. Georgia May "Jo" Failes was born May 27, 1934, in Landgon, Kansas, to George W. Schweizer and Elsie Elliot Schweizer and passed from this life September 26, 2012, in Fairview.

She was raised in Walsh, Colorado.

Jo married William Kenneth Loss II, and he was killed in a traffic accident in February 1953. Later, she married Garnett Failes in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

She moved to Cleo Springs in 1955 and stayed in the area until moving to Cherokee in 1978. After Garnett passed away, Jo moved back to Cleo Springs in 2001.

She was owner/operator of Dutch Cup Café and the liquor store in Cleo Springs for many years. When Jo moved to Cherokee, she worked in Cherokee restaurants and the NAPA store and retired from Cherokee Dairy Mart.

She enjoyed working with her hands doing cross-stitch and embroidery. Reading, word searches and bowling were other favorite pastimes. Jo was an excellent cook, with her family enjoying the fruits of her labor. After her retirement, she was able to visit the coast, where she was able to put her feet in the ocean.

Jo was a member of Cleo Springs Christian Church.

Those who preceded Jo in death include both husbands, Garnett Failes and William Kenneth Loss II; her parents; son, Monte Failes; daughter-in-law, Dorothy Loss; brothers, John Schweizer, Jim Schweizer, Earl Schweizer, Ralph Schweizer and Bill Schweizer; sisters, Lou Ella Connor and Mildred Doyle; and grandson, Jeffrey Failes.

Survivors include sons, Rick Failes of Cleo Springs, William "Bill" Loss of Canton; daughters, Linda Foster and husband J.C. of Yale, Janet Loll and husband Paul of Woodlands, Texas, and Carla Beckwith and husband Alan of Cleo Springs; 15 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; sisters, Wilma Hannafious of Springfield, Colorado, Betty Abbott and husband Mel of Salina, Kansas, Pat Demuth and husband Eldon of Salina, Kansas, Elsie Bitner of Walsh, Colorado; and several nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be given to Cystic Fibrosis Foundation or Cleo Springs Cemetery through the funeral home.
