Chester Cemetery


SEILING - The funeral for Mervin "Mert" Edward Chapman, 62, of Chester , will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 17, 2010, at Elm Grove Community Church. Pastor Orville White will officiate. Burial with military honors will be in Chester Cemetery . Arrangements are by Redinger Funeral Home, Seiling.

He was born July 7, 1947, in Concho to Lee and Onia Harms Chapman and died Friday, Feb. 12, 2010, at Seiling Municipal Hospital.

He graduated from Seiling High School in 1965. He served in the Air Force and was honorably discharged in 1972. He graduated from Spartan School of Aeronautics and worked on aircraft in Oklahoma City. He was a welder for Waldon Inc. in Fairview for several years and moved to Chester to work for Haldaman Tractor and Auto Repair.

He married Leslee Ann Haldaman Feb. 6, 1976, in Woodward. They made their home in Chester . He began working for Panhandle Eastern Pipeline Co. of Seiling in 1977 and retired in 2003 after 25 years of service. He also farmed and raised cattle. He was a member of Elm Grove Community Church, where he led Royal Rangers, and helped with kids church at Mutual Christian Church.

Surviving are his wife, Leslee; one daughter, Lacey Hall of Chester ; one son, Matt Chapman of Taloga; two brothers, Jim Chapman of Woodward and Dean Chapman of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada; and three granddaughters.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home, P.O. Box 236, Seiling, OK 73663, to Elm Grove Community Church Powerhouse Kids Ministry.
