Ames Cemetery


Graveside memorial services were held for Donald Louis Wood, age 73, at 2 p.m. March 24, 2004 at the Ames Oklahoma Cemetery with Rev. Alan Seibel officiating. Arrangements were by Anderson Burris Funeral Home of Enid Oklahoma.

He was born to John and Lorena Patton Wood on August 27, 1930 and died March 22, 2004 in Enid. Don was raised on the family farm north of Ames and attended schools in Ames. He traveled and assisted in erecting numerous grain elevators, including the one at Ames. He worked for Luckinbills, Inc. and was well known for his backhoe skills. He was a member of the Ames Baptist Church. He was married to Lois May Francis in Ames. Later Don and Tina Swank were married and they were married 20 years. He loved fishing and helping his uncle Johnnie Patton with water pump services. He was loved by his family and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Tina of the home; one son John A. Wood and his wife Debra of Hennessey; one daughter Jo Ann Wood Cottom and her husband Gearld of Ames; one step son John Swank of Enid; seven grandchildren John, Casey and Toby Wood, Bryan Cottom and Melissa Cottom Packan, Matthew, Jenny and Megan Swank; nine great grandchildren; one brother Merle Wood and wife Opal of Enid; one brother in law Hugh Blaser of Garber.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one infant brother John E Wood; one sister Dorothy Blaser; and one great grandson Joshua Wood.
