Ames Cemetery


March 15, 1877 - July 25, 1942

Services for W. H. Turner, resident of the Lahoma community since the opening of the Cherokee Strip, were held Sunday afternoon at the Antioch church near Ames with A. S. Croon in charge. Burial was in Ames Cemetery.

Turner died Saturday at his home. He was 65 years old.

Pallbearers were Monroe Hayes, Emory Poindexter, Walter Norris, Maurice Sloan, Elmer Bland, and John Hughes.

Turner lived on a farm 2 miles west and 6 miles south of Lahoma.

He came to Oklahoma from Missouri. He had been a member of the Church of Christ since boyhood.

He leaves his wife of the home, one daughter, Mrs. William Schaffer of Clearwater, Kansas; two sons, Harold of Ringwood; Vernon of the home; six sisters, Mrs. Fred Sieber of Hennessey; Mrs. Harry Jackson of Beaver City; Miss Verba Turner of Salem, Missouri; Mrs. Craig Cochrell of Isabella, Kansas; Mrs. Frank Payne of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Mrs. Ara Carson of Indiana; and two brothers, R. W. of Attica, Kansas, and Samuel of Oklahoma City. He leave seven grandchildren.

The Henninger Funeral Home cared for the body.
