July 10, 1941 - August 11, 2021

Funeral Services for Marita S. Schwind, age 80, will be Friday, August 20, at 10:30 a.m. at Yanda and Son Funeral Home Chapel in Yukon, Oklahoma. Burial will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the Ames Cemetery, Ames, Oklahoma.

Marita S. Schwind was a loving spouse, mother, grandmother, sister and dear friend. She was born July 10, 1941, in Ames, Oklahoma, to Herman and Dorothy (Shook) Swart and passed away August 11, 2021, at the age of 80 at Integris Hospice House in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Marita graduated from Ames High School, class of 1959. Joe married Marita Swart August 8, 1959, at Ames Methodist Church. They celebrated 53 wonderful years together. To this union were born a son Jim and daughters Lori and Kelly.

Joe and Marita owned and operated the NAPA Auto Parts Store in Fairview, Oklahoma, from 1978 to 2004. She cared so much for her customers and community. She also worked for Dr. Baughan for many years, as well as at Fairview Elementary School with the ADAPT Program. Marita was involved in many activities at Fairview Methodist Church, as well, including singing in the choir right alongside Joe.

A few of her favorite things included playing basketball and golf, square dancing, traveling to Colorado, and watching Hallmark movies. Her greatest joy, however, was her family. She cherished spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grand fur babies! Marita was fortunate to have her special Hallmark moment when all of her children and grandchildren were able to spend the Christmas of 2019 together with her at her home, where she had a special surprise lined up for them ... making gingerbread houses together!

Marita believed in living every day to the fullest by loving Jesus and bringing joy and kindness to all. Her spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those who know and love her.

Marita is survived by son Jim and Kim Schwind and their children, Cassidy and Kalley; daughter Lori and Larry Brickman and their children Blake, Ashley and Aaron Fife; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Marita was preceded in death by her parents, husband Joe, daughter Kelly Sue, brothers,Steve and Bob, and sister Marjoirie Richardson.
