Ames Cemetery

Ames - Funeral services for Adrian McKinney, 76, will be at 2 PM Sunday in the Ames Christian Church with the Rev. Gary Bell officiating. Burial will be in the Ames Cemetery, under the direction of the Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home of Enid.

McKinney's family has suggested that those who wish make contributions to the Ames Christian Church Parsonage Fund in his memory. Memorial contributions may be made through Jim Gregory of Ames, the church treasurer or through the funeral home.

Mckinney died Friday in an Enid hospital after a lengthy illness. He was born April 10, 1903, near Larned, Kansas, and a year later moved with his parents, Samuel and Julia McKinney, to a farm northeast of Ames, living in that community the remainder of his life.

McKinney farmed until ill health forced his retirement in 1960. He was a member of the Ames Christian Church, where he taught a Sunday School class, served as Sunday School superintendent, as an elder and on the church board for many years.

He and Delia Fyffe were married May 22, 1923, and she survives him. He is also survived by a daughter, Mrs. Vyron (Ruth Evelyn) DeHaas, Ames; a son, Dr. Robert Eugene McKinney, Enid; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; four brothers, Jerry McKinney, Escalon, California, Bert McKinney, Inola, Fay McKinney, Oakdale, California, and Bill McKinney, Atwater, California. Three sisters and a brother preceded him in death.
