Ames Cemetery


A recitation of the Rosary for Maria Esperanza Hernandez, 63, of Ames, will be 8 p.m. today at Anderson-Burris Funeral Home Chapel. A graveside service will be 10 a.m. Saturday in Ames Cemetery. The Rev. Kevin Ratterman will officiate.

She was born April 15, 1944, in Mexico to Bernandino and Ana Cleta Cas-tillo Escalante and died Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2007, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center.

She grew up in Mexico and married Ricardo Hernandez in August 1972. They lived in Mexico, moving to Ames in 1979. She was a homemaker and attended St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church.

Surviving are her husband, Ricardo, of the home; 12 children, Miguel Hernandez, Francisco Hernandez, Carolina Hernandez and Ricardo Hernandez Jr., all of Enid, Lorena Hernandez and Jose Aguilar of Ames, Blanca Solis of Waukomis, Lourdes Fernandez, Guadalupe Gonzalez, Gloria Alejandrez and Luis Aguilar, all of San Antonio, and Guillermo Aguilar, who is currently serving in Iraq; one brother, Felix Lara of Hennessey; two sisters, Francisca Mendoza of Enid and Paula Gutierrez of Sonora, Texas; 28 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, one brother and one grandchild.
