Mrs. Gautier was born August 3, 1913 to Jesse and Lelia Hill. Until very recently she lived her entire life in Ames, Oklahoma in the same house in which she was born. While undergoing medical treatment she resided at Greenbrier Village in Enid.

Mrs. Gautier went to school in Ames, graduating in 1930. She earned a Bachelor's Degree at Northwestern State Teachers College in Alva, Oklahoma and a Master's Degree at Phillips University in Enid.

She began her teaching career at Union Star in Major County teaching all eight grades in a typical one – room country school. She then taught in Fairview for two years. In 1935 she returned to Ames and taught there until 1977.

She married Howard Gautier in 1943 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania where Howard was serving in the U. S. Army.

Mrs. Gautier was a member of Ames Methodist Church where she was baptized at age 3. She taught Sunday School there for many years. When the church closed, she began attending the Ames Baptist Church where she was warmly welcomed as a Bible study teacher.

During her long teaching career Mrs. Gautier received many awards and accolades in appreciation and gratitude for her dedication and service. Her greatest treasure was the knowledge that she had the opportunity to touch the lives of so many young people. She was delighted that so many of her students stayed in contact with her through the years as they shared with her the lives she had helped to mold.

Survivors include her daughter, Gloria Mills and husband Larry; grandsons, Michael and Sean, all of Southlake, Texas; her nephew, Dick Rundle of Dallas, her nieces, Margaret Brewer of Houston and Ruth Zachary of Blackwell.
