Harley G. Dittmeyer

The funeral for Harley G. Dittmeyer, 79, of Ames, will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct 29, 2008, in Ames Church of Christ. Joe Duarte and John Sheffield, pastors, will officiate. Burial will be in Ames Cemetery. Arrangments are by Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home. Visitation with the family will be 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

He was born Jan. 15, 1929, in Meno to Lester and Hollis Miller Dittmeyer and died Saturday, Oct. 25, 2008, at his home.

He graduated from Ames High School in 1947. He married Nellie Jo Reynolds June 10, 1950, in Ames, where they made their home. He farmed, retiring in 1977. He also was a deputy for Major County Sheriff's Office and also Oklahoma Bureau of Investigation more than 10 years.

He was a member of Ames Church of Christ. He served on several boards in Ames including the water resources board. He was a member of Ames Lions Club and drove a bus for Ames Public Schools.

Surviving are his wife, Nellie Jo of the home; two sons, Douglas Dittmeyer of Stillwater and Brent Dittmeyer of Enid; two daughters, Deanne Rikli of Enid and Staci Dittmeyer of Ames; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one brother.

The funeral service for Nellie Joyce Dittmeyer, 86, Ames, is 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 12, 2018, Ames Church of Christ. Burial follows in Ames Cemetery.

Services are under the direction of Henninger Hinson Funeral Home.

Visitation with family and friends is 5:30-7:30 p.m. today, September 11, 2018, at the funeral home.

Nellie Jo was born January 24, 1932, in Enid to Everett and Susie (Root) Reynolds, and passed away Saturday September 8, 2018, at The Commons, surrounded by family.

After graduating from Ames High School, Nellie Jo married Harley Dittmeyer on June 10, 1950, in Ames. She spent many years as a cafeteria manager in the Ames Public School system.

After retirement, she and her daughter, Staci, shared a business cleaning and organizing homes. Nellie Jo and Harley enjoyed antiques and auctions together. Nellie Jo had a true servant's heart, looking after everyone in the community. She was known to often take food to those who needed it.

In her later years, Nellie Jo learned to paint, loved to garden and was an avid reader.

She was a member of Ames Church of Christ and Ladies Good Cheer Community Club.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harley; daughter, Staci, and sister, Donna Marie Larr.

Nellie Jo is survived by her children, Doug Dittmeyer and wife, Marsha of Stillwater; Brent Dittmeyer and wife, Kathy of Enid; daughter, Deanne Rikli and husband, Billy Clyde of Enid; sister, Janice Bunch of Ames; eight grandchildren, David Dittmeyer; Leslie Ensign; Elizabeth Tresca; Kale Dittmeyer; Kelley Dittmeyer; Brady Dittmeyer; Cassiday Pinion and Miranda Rikli; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous extended family.

Memorials may be given through the funeral home to Ames Fire Department.
