Clifford William Buckminster, 83, passed peacefully into the arms of his Savior on 1 July, 2026.
Clifford was born on 6 December,1942, to Norval and Alice Buckminster on the family farm, the youngest of eight children.
He was preceded in death by four sisters, Virginia Hill, Dorothy Went, Evelyn Young, and Norvella Nelson, and two brothers, Charles Buckminster and his baby brother John. Clifford is survived by his wife Jean, his daughters Sara Skaggs (Bryan), Katie Schiltz (Eric) and Penny Watkins (Zac), and three grandchildren Alice, Ben, and Addie Watkins, and one sister Alice Ruth Dierksen.
Cliff was a devoted husband, loving father, faithful Christian, lifelong rancher and farmer, and a friend to many. Cliff graduated from Enid High School in 1960. On the 13th of November 1964 he married the love of his life Jean Riffel. He was drafted into the United States Army in 1964 and served 2 years. After the army, Cliff and Jean came back to farm life, southeast of Lahoma.
He was a simple man who never wanted recognition for himself. Instead, he found joy in working hard, providing for his family, worshipping the Lord, and helping others whenever he could. He was a good steward of the land and proudly raised Polled Hereford cattle south of Lahoma.
He was known for his wonderful sense of humor, kind heart, strong work ethic, and unwavering faith. Whether in the field, at church, or gathered with family and friends, Cliff had a way of making people laugh and feel welcome. He believed in doing what was right, keeping his word, and living a life of quiet faith and integrity. He was a church volunteer and a member of Sons and Daughters of The Cherokee Strip.
Above all, Cliff loved his family. He shared a lifelong love with his beloved wife, Jean, for 61 years and was a proud father and grandfather. His greatest legacy is not found in what he owned, but in the values he lived every day-faith, hard work, generosity, humility, and unconditional love. Memorial may be made to Hospice Circle of Love with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home and Crematory serving as custodians of the funds. Condolences may be made online at www.ladusauevans.com.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Ames Cemetery, on Friday, 3 July, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Bill Smith and Rev. Matt Watkins officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home and Crematory. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6:00-7:00 pm at the funeral home.
