On the evening of January 1, 2018, Jim A. Bowles passed away peacefully in his home with his loving wife by his side. Jim will be remembered for his unfaltering love and loyalty by numerous family and friends. We will celebrate his life at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, January 5th at Walker Funeral Service Chapel with burial services at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 6th in Ames, Oklahoma.

Jim was born on April 28, 1941, in Ames, Oklahoma, to E.P. and Buena Bowles. He graduated from Ames High School in 1959, and attended East Central University earning a Bachelors degree in accounting. He was a practicing CPA and investment banker, as well as the owner of Country Grove Apartments in Shawnee. Jim served his country as a member of the U.S. National Guard, 45th Infantry Division. He married Karen Webb on December 15, 1961, and they recently celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary. They moved to Shawnee in 1971, where they have been active citizens in the community for over 40 years. Jim was a member of the Shawnee Chamber of Commerce and contributed in numerous civic roles for the city. An avid hunter and outdoor sportsman, Jim enjoyed hunting dove, pheasant, deer and quail. He particularly loved working with his beloved hunting dogs and participating in field trials. Every October, Jim joined a group of friends and family for the opening weekend of pheasant hunting in South Dakota. He never missed a trip. In recent years, fishing and spending time at Lake Texoma had become favorite pastimes for Jim and his family. He found great peace out on the boat in the early morning hours just before sunrise.

Jim joins in Heaven his infant son, Jonathan Andrew Bowles; his parents, E.P. and Buena Bowles; his in-laws, Fred and Irene Webb; brothers-in-law, Butch Webb, Paul Janos, Mel Vaughan, Stanley Summers; a niece, Jo Diane Summers; and many dear family and friends.

He will be missed by Karen Bowles; two daughters, Jennifer Lynn and Desdive Click; one son-in-law, Kevin Click; four grandchildren, McKenna and Ethan Lynn, Sidney and Sawyer Click; three sisters, Janice Janos, Jtonne Summers, Jerry Lea Vaughan; and numerous family and friends.

Memorials may be made in Jim's honor to the Oklahoma Heart Hospital.

December 19, 1941 - April 5, 2019

In the late afternoon of April 5th, 2019, Karen Jo Bowles, passed away peacefully while her loving daughters held her hands and said goodbye. It is with gratitude and love, her family and friends will celebrate Karen's life at 10:00 am, on Wednesday, April 10th at Walker Funeral Chapel in Shawnee, Oklahoma followed by graveside services in Ames, Oklahoma at 3:30 pm. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, April 9th.

Karen Jo Bowles was born on December 19th, 1941, in Wakita, Oklahoma to Irene Josephine and Fred Hulen Webb. She was loved and treasured by her parents, grandparents, brother and many aunts, uncles and cousins. She graduated from Wakita High School in 1959 and attended college at Northern Oklahoma Junior College in Tonkawa. On a blind date in 1961, she met Jim A. Bowles. Arriving at a dance separately, but leaving together, they married six months later on December 16, 1961. After spending time in Enid, Ames, and Konawa, Karen and Jim moved to Shawnee, Oklahoma in 1972 and built their family home. For over 46 years, they were active members of the Shawnee community. Karen and Jim remained involved in their hometowns of Wakita and Ames, by participating in yearly reunions and celebrations. They enjoyed catching up with family and childhood friends, keeping them connected to the people and places of their past.

Tradition and legacy were important to both Karen and Jim. Every Memorial weekend, they would visit Wakita, Ames, and the surrounding areas honoring and remembering loved ones. This is a commitment they shared with their children and grandchildren, who will continue to follow in their footsteps.

Karen joins in heaven, her husband Jim Bowles, their infant son, Jonathan Andrew; her parents, Fred and Irene Webb; her brother, Ralph "Butch" Webb; father-in-law and mother in-law, E.P. and Buena Bowles; three brother-in-laws Paul Janos, Stanley Summers, and Melvin Vaughan; a niece, Jo Diane Summers; and many dear family and friends.

She will be missed and lovingly remembered by two daughters, Jennifer Lynn and Desdive Click; one son-in-law, Kevin Click; four grandchildren McKenna and Ethan Lynn, Sidney and Sawyer Click; three sister-in-laws, Janice Janos, Jtonne Summers, Jerry Lea Vaughan; as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins. Countless number of loving friends touched by Karen's warmth and kind nature will remember her fondly.
