January 9, 1859 - Augut 23, 1920

Andrew Francis Bowles was born at Clinton, Illinois, January 9, 1859. When 14 years old he, with his family, moved to Kansas, near Mulvane, where he grew to manhood. He was married to Mary J. Maleree September 12, 1880. To this union were born 11 children, six boys and five girls, three of home with the mother preceded him in death.

He came to Oklahoma in 1893, and located on the claim southeast of Ames, Oklahoma, on which he resided till death claimed him, August 23, 1920, caused from apoplexy.

May 6, 1903, he was again married to Clara Bell Albright, to which union were born three children, two girls and one boy.

He left to mourn his departure a wife, six sons, five daughters, one step daughter, one brother, four sisters, grandchildren, other relatives and a host of friends waiting to pass over.

He lived 61 years, 8 months and 15 days. He was a faithful and loving husband, a doting and trusted father, a worthy citizen, a tried neighbor and a true Christian. We will miss him, but hope our loss is his gain. We have performed our last sad rites to the dead but our sympathies remain with the family and near relatives. May the promises of a loving Heavenly Father made to his children be the means of comfort in their sad hour bereavement.

The funeral was conducted by Eider Jeff D. Morgan, of Dodge city, at Antioch church and the body laid to rest in the Ames Cemetery August 25, 1920.
