Born February 1, 1899, in Indian Territory, Mrs. Simmons died September 20, 1991, at Wilson at the age of 92. She was the daughter of James M. and Frances Elizabeth Petty Kite. Mrs. Simmons grew up in Holdenville. She married Joe Simmons in 1917 in Holdenville, and they moved to Courtney Flat in 1927. The couple had made their home in Simon since 1939.
She is survived by two daughters, Josey V. Foutch of Cabot, Arkansas, and Dolly Fay Raines of Gainesville, Texas; three sons, Albert M. Simmons of Simon, Luther James Simmons of Sacramento, California, and Frankie Melbourn Simmons of Garland, Texas; 19 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-granddaughter.
Mrs. Simmons was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Simmons, on June 8, 1966; twin daughters, Lucey and Ruthey Simmons on September 23, 1920; and a son, Alvy Lee Simmons on January 4, 1988.
Interment was in the Simon Cemetery under the direction of Alexander Funeral Home, Wilson.
Serving as pallbearers were grandsons, Mitchell Gaines, Randy Gaines, Carlton Simmons, Bobby Joe Simmons, Jerry W. Gaines, and Alan Tucker.
