Alma Alice "Sis" (Hull) Morton

Graveside rites for A. Alice "Sis" Morton, 89, of Simon, were at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 18, in the Simon Cemetery with Rev. Don Hull and Rev. Stephen Biggerstaff officiating.

Mrs. Morton was born June 28, 1910 in Onyx, Arkansas, the daughter of John Mose and Maggie Evelyn McGough Hull. She died March 16, 2000 in Marietta. The former Alice "Sis" Hull came to Oswalt at the age of three where she attended and graduated from Oswalt High School. She and Luther Edgar Morton were married in August 1929, at Orr and had lived in the Simon community since that time. Mrs. Morton was employed by the Marietta Cookie Factory for 16 years as well as helping with the farming and ranching at her home. When Mr. Morton preceded her in death on October 23, 1996, they had celebrated 67 years of marriage.

Survivors include three daughters, Oma Ruth Davis of Wilson, Christine Cox of Lone Grove, and Evylene Davenport of Ardmore; one son, E.L. Morton of Ardmore; three sisters, Ethel Allison of Marietta, Hazel Goins of Tishomingo, and Lillie Coyle of Marietta; two brothers, Chick Hull and Jack Hull, both of Marietta; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great grandchildren.

Mrs. Morton was also preceded in death by five brothers, Frank Hull, Hollis "Spooks" Hull, Dick Hull, Floyd "Doe" Hull and Dr. Wesley Hull.

Bearers were grandsons, Lynn Davis, Mike Morton, John Kelly Davenport, Justin Davenport, Steve Cox, Richard Cox and Jeffrey Morton.  
 

Services were under the direction of Alexander Funeral Home, Wilson.
