Memorial inturnment services for Marion Almenia Culwell, 80, of Simon were held at 10 a.m., Friday, May 10 at Simon Cemetery with Rev. Joshua Gunter officiating.

Born December 28, 1932 at Simon, the daughter of Thomas Marion “Curly”, Jr. and Altha Nora Sexton Culwell, she died Friday, May 3, 2013 at her farm in Simon. Almenia attended school initially at Simon and graduated from Meadowbrook High School. She then attended Murray State College for almost two years where she majored in agriculture. Almenia spent a few years in Michigan and then moved to Fort Worth, Texas where she was a foster Mom to several disabled children before she was given her wonderful son Billy Bob. Soon after she returned to the family ranch. Almenia has been a caregiver all of her life. She worked at Turner Schools as a teachers aide and librarian while her son was in school, then continued to help her Dad and brother Sonny on the family ranch. She was a member of the Eastman Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her son Billy Bob Ball of the home in Simon; two nieces, Janette Carlile and husband Aaron of Overbrook and Cheryl Culwell of Davis; two great-nieces, Brandi Carlile of Oklahoma City and Lori Mai and husband Wayne of Overbrook; two great-great-nieces, Kaylyn and Tylar of Overbrook and numerous other family and friends.

Serving as honorary pallbearers were James Williams and Don Culwell.
