Services for Katherine Young, 83, of Gainesville, Texas, were held at 1 p.m., Saturday, July 27, in the Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home Chapel, Marietta, with Garrett Kell officiating.

Mrs. Young was born February 22, 1919, at Cumberland, the daughter of Harvey and Ruth Burpo Darrow. She died Wednesday, July 24, 2002, in the Denton Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Denton, Texas.

A homemaker, Mrs. Young had been a resident of Denton for the past 1 1/2 years, previously living in Gainesville for 16 years. She and Walter Lee Young were married November 5, 1942, in Durant, and he preceded her in death on August 16, 1969. She was a graduate of Foss High School, and a member of Central Baptist Church in Gainesville.

Survivors include two sons and daughter-in-law, Tommy and Rose Young of Hugo and Jerry Young of Denton; a daughter, Linda Corrigan of Denton; a sister, Lucille Hancock and a niece, Ruth Clark, of Falconhead; three grandchildren; and numerous great nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Young was also preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Nancy Darrow.

Pallbearers were Harvey Hancock Jr., Mike Hancock, Justin Tomlinson, Steve Clark, Craig Williams and Michael Hancock.

Interment was in the Bourland-Belleville Cemetery, Courtney, under the direction of Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home, Marietta.
