Services for Samuel Norman Wester were Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. in the Louise Prichard Chapel of the First Baptist Church, Oklahoma City. Interment followed at 2:30 p.m. in Memorial Park Cemetery, Tulsa.
Born April 10, 1908, at Burneyville, Mr. Wester Died February 9, 1993, in Oklahoma City. He was a lifelong resident of Oklahoma, graduating from Burneyville High School and Southeastern State University in Durant. Mr. Wester was a high school coach and teacher at Rexroat and Graham before joining the Carter Oil Company in 1931. He spent the remainder of his vocational life with Exxon (Humble) Oil Company, being transferred from Tulsa to Oklahoma City in 1966 before retirement.
While teaching and coaching at Graham, Mr. Wester was introduced to a first-year teacher, Sue Graham, and a lifelong romance began. They were married July 3, 1929.
Mr. Wester was a member of the First Baptist Church of Oklahoma City where he served a deacon (past chairman); teacher of the Pilot Bible Class; and faithful member of numerous committees. He was also a 32nd degree Mason; Past Master Pilgrim Masonic Lodge #522 of Tulsa and Siloam Masonic Lodge #276 of Oklahoma City; York Rite Red Cross of Constantine, Tulsa Chapter #52; St. Omar Conclave, Tulsa Council #2; Trinity Commandery #20, Tulsa; Past President of the Scottish Rite Society of Oklahoma, Knight Commander of the Court of Honor; member of the India Temple Shrine of Oklahoma; and past president of The Charity Foundation of the Grand Lodge of Oklahoma.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Sue Wester of the home; three sisters-in-law, Angie Wester of Oklahoma City, Elsie Carter of Cushing, and Beulah Graham of Carmi, Illinois; two nieces, Sondra Sue Bond of Oklahoma City and Margaret Sue Bright of Knoxville, Tennessee; three nephews, Truman Wester of Denison, Texas, Norman Wester Graham of Carmi, and John W. Graham of Billings, Montana.
Services were under the direction of Guardian Funeral Home, Oklahoma City.
