Services for Lafayette M. Walden of Marietta will be Friday at 2:00 p.m. in the Kennedy Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. W.Z. DeMent officiating.
Mr. Walden was born May 19, 1911, at Thackerville, and died March 26, 1997, in the Love County Health Center, Marietta, at the age of 85. He was the son of William Edward and Mary Alice Roberts Walden. Mr. Walden had made his home in Wichita Falls, Texas, for 43 years before moving to Marietta in 1979. He married Willie Ethel Black in 1933 in Marietta. A retired city bus driver in Wichita Falls, Mr. Walden was a Mason and a member of the Marietta Christian Fellowship Church.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Ethel Walden of the home in Marietta; a son and daughter-in-law, Frank and Shirley Ann Walden of Quanah, Texas; a daughter and son-in-law, Loretta and James Tellier of Allen, Texas; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Mr. Walden was preceded in death by a son, Bobby Joe Walden in 1953; five brothers and two sisters.
Services will be directed by Kennedy Funeral Home with interment in Lakeview Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be James Tellier, Danny Alexander, Lawrence Black, David Kerr, Toney Hearell and Joel Hodges.
