Services for Loyd D. Whatley, 43, of Ardmore were Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. in Marietta's First Baptist Church with Rev. Jimmy May officiating.
Born April 9, 1956, at Ringling, Mr. Whatley died July 18, 1999, in Mercy Memorial Health Center, Ardmore. He was the son of Loyal H. and Louise Jones Whatley.
Mr. Whatley had lived in Ardmore for the past year, moving there from Marietta. He married Jerita Redwine on June 11, 1999, in Marietta. A 1974 graduate of Marietta High School, Mr. Whatley had been a tire builder at Uniroyal for 25 years. He enjoyed fishing and was of the Pentecostal faith.
He is survived by his parents, Loyal H. and Louise Whatley of Marietta; his wife, Jerita Whatley of the home; a daughter, Nikki Whatley of the home; a stepson, Robert Bartee of Pasadena, Texas; a stepdaughter, Nickie Lynn Bartee of Ardmore; a brother, Gary Whatley of Marietta; a sister, Deleta Minyard of Marietta; and two nephews, Cody Minyard and Toby Ringwald.
Arrangements were directed by Kennedy Funeral Home with interment in Lakeview Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Roger Mayes, Mike Wilson, Carey England, Robert Bartee, Jerry Don Stewart and Jay Barrick. Honorary bearers included Steve Smith, Jerry Allison, John Rouse, Shawn Mote, Steve Vaughn and Cody Minyard.
